The Collegiate Inventors Competition is a national program designed to recognize and encourage graduate and undergraduate students in their quest to invent and develop new technologies and scientific breakthroughs.

Inventions must be more than a mere concept or idea. Inventions will be judged on their originality, inventiveness and on their potential value to society. A student need not have an issued patent in order to apply; however, Invent Now recommends that students begin the patent process as soon as possible.

Background

For more than 19 years, the Collegiate Inventors Competition (CIC) has recognized and encouraged undergraduate and graduate students in their quest to change the world around them.  This year over $80,000 in prizes will be awarded to the top student inventors and their academic advisors.  The Competition, a program of Invent Now, National Inventors Hall of Fame Inc., is one of the most prestigious honors available to college and university innovators.  The United States Patent and Trademark Office and the Abbott Fund are the presenting sponsors for the 2007 program.
