Leo Melamed

The eighth annual Chicago Innovation Awards is Oct. 20 at the Windy City’s Goldman Theater. The awards program honors 11 products and services from companies that may be large or small, for-profit or not-for-profit, high-tech, low-tech or no-tech, but that are tied together by their commitment to innovation.

This year’s keynote speaker is Leo Melamed, financial market innovator, writer, lecturer and international authority on futures markets. Mr. Melamed is recognized as the founder of financial futures and is Chairman Emeritus of the CME Group Inc. After the ceremony, Mr. Melamed will be signing copies of his newest book, For Crying Out Loud, a highly praised insider history of futures trading.

Goody bags (stocked with gifts from nominees and sponsors and last year valued at over $200) will be on hand, along with drinks and hors d’oeuvres catered by Maggiano’s.

The event is free. The reception will be 5:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m., followed by the ceremony from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
