kapposDavid Kappos, head of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, will be holding an informal roundtable in Los Angeles this Thursday, Jan. 14, at the Los Angeles Public Library from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

A spokeswoman said the casual meeting is a way for Kappos to hear first-hand concerns from inventors and relay how the USPTO can help.

“It’s part of the USPTO’s ongoing effort to reach out to inventors,” the spokeswoman told Inventors Digest.

Patent reform legislation currently stuck in Congress could come up, “but it’s not part of the main focus” of the meeting, she added. “It will be him doing a lot of listening, quite frankly.”

Michael Diep, inventor of the Emery Cat and member of the first season of Everyday Edisons, also will be there.

The Central Library, at 630 W. 5th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90071, is one of the USPTO’s depository libraries.
